A night of deadly violence unfolded in California as a series of horrific incidents left multiple people dead and injured.

The terrifying events began on Thursday (June 1) when a man launched a frenzied attack in the cities of Milpitas and San Jose.

At around 3.11pm, cops found one stab victim with life-threatening injuries before the victim's car was then stolen and driven to around two miles away.

At 3.31pm, the attacker struck again, stealing another vehicle by stabbing the driver and forcibly taking control of the car.

The victim suffered severe and life-threatening injuries during this violent act.

Fortunately, their injuries were not life-threatening, and they were transported to a local hospital for treatment.

The suspect and the stolen vehicle were eventually found.

He deliberately rammed the stolen vehicle into two pedestrians, both of whom tragically lost their lives due to the impact.

Around 4.30pm, the Milpitas police responded to yet another stabbing, this time in the parking lot of a Smart & Final store.

Despite life-saving efforts, the victim succumbed to their injuries.

After hiding in a residential area, the unidentified suspect was apprehended by law enforcement officers.

Both San Jose and Milpitas police believe that this suspect is responsible for all the incidents that occurred.

Officer Aponte urged the public to come forward with any information regarding violent incidents that took place in San Jose or neighboring jurisdictions during the same time period.

San Jose Mayor Matt Mahan expressed his deep sorrow and condemned the violence. In a heartfelt tweet, he said: "I am sickened by the senseless violence that took place in our city tonight.

"There are no words that can convey how sorry I am to the victims' loved ones whose lives have been forever altered. San Jose mourns with you.

"Thank you to the brave officers of San Jose Police Department and Milpitas Police Department who acted with urgency to prevent further catastrophe. Over the coming days, law enforcement will follow every lead to understand how this happened."
