Kyler Murray offers impassioned response after Texas mall shooting in home town

Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray was among a number of people paying tribute on Saturday following yet another gun related attack in the United States.

Eight people and a gunman were left dead in at a shopping mall in Allen, Texas over the weekend following the attack. As well as eight civilian deaths, Seven others were reportedly left wounded after the attacker opened fire. He has since been named as 33-year-old Mauricio Martinez Garcia.

The community of Allen have been left devastated following the attack at the Premium Outlets Mall, including Cardinals star Murray who is from the Texas city.

Following the attack, the 25-year-old took to social media to offer his prayers and help to those affected, calling for an end to American gun violence. The quarterback wrote on Twitter: "This is sickening. Prayers to the mass shooting victims in Allen, Texas.

"If there is anyway I can help those affected by this tragedy please let me know. When is this s*** gonna stop?" The local sporting community continued to pull together, with NBA setup Dallas Mavericks offering their condolences and addressing gun violence issues.

The statement read: "Our hearts and prayers go out to the victims impacted by the horrific shooting in the city of Allen, we offer our unwavering support to the entire North Texas community. But we understand this is not enough.

"As guns are the leading cause of death for children and teens in America, the mass shooting that happened yesterday has become an unfortunate reality. It is our duty to turn words into action to address this multifaceted and growing problem.

"On behalf of our children and other victims, please contact your federal, state and local representatives to demand action and save lives. Listen. Learn. Unite."

A similar message was shared by the nearby NFL franchise the Dallas Cowboys. In a statement, the Cowboys wrote: "So deeply saddened to see the senseless and tragic loss of life in Allen yesterday. Our hearts and prayers are with the victims, their families and our community."
