TRYING to find a quiet beach while on holiday in Spain can be a difficult task.
But I found a hidden beach in Tenerife which is open to the public that not many people know about.
Called Abama Beach, I discovered it while staying at the Ritz-Carlton Abama, a bright pink pink five-star resort on the island.
At first I thought the beach was exclusive to hotel guests, only to be told that Spain doesn't allow private beaches.
But many people may not realise it exists, as it is pretty hard to get to if you aren't a guest of the hotel.

The beach is tucked away behind the sprawling resort, so you'd be hard-pressed to just stumble upon it.
Hotel guests can use the land train from the front of the hotel, but non-hotel guests will just have to follow it down.
With around 280 steps, it isn't for the fainthearted as it's a steep winding road but the view down is pretty impressive.
And it's worth it when you get there, with soft sands and little wind due to it being tucked between cliff walls.
The beach has a bar and toilets as well as sunloungers you can rent, although they are free if you are a hotel guest.
Tucked to the side is also a small boardwalk and rock pools you can jump into.
I opted for a spot on the sand and spent hours relaxing on the beach, which never felt busy even with hotel guests.
There is also a funicular - a bit like a cable-car/tram hybrid - which operates between the beach and the resort, but only guests can use it.
Other tourists who have stumbled upon the beach praised it, with one saying: "It is smaller and resembles a private beach, although it is not. If you want peace, this is the right choice."
Another said: "It's a little secret paradise with golden sand and turquoise blue waters."

So if you are up for a challenge to avoid the main crowds, it's definitely work the trip up and down.
