Fiorentina will be looking to gain the upper hand when they host FC Basel in their Europa Conference League semi-final first leg. The Italians are usually dominant at the Stadio Artemio Franchi and are expected to be too strong for their Swiss opponents. Vincenzo Italiano's Fiorentina side have been in fine form in the Conference League, having secured a 6-4 aggregate victory over Lech Poznan in the previous round.
The hosts go into this match as the overwhelming favourites at 1/3 with Betfred while Basel are 15/2 to produce a shock and a draw is 4/1. La Viola go into this match as the tournaments top scorers on 32 goals with strikers Arthur Cabral and Luka Jovic joint-top scorers with six.
They won 4-1 in the first meeting, before suffering a 3-2 defeat in the return leg. Before that, they had gone nine games unbeaten in the competition, including a 4-1 victory over Sivasspor, a 4-0 win at Sporting Braga and a 5-1 thrashing of Hearts. Unfortunately, Fiorentina headed into Thursday's clash off the back of a 1-0 defeat to newly crowned Serie A champions Napoli.
However, they will be feeling confident after a 5-0 home win over Sampdoria in their previous fixture. Basel had to wait until extra time to see off French side Nice in the previous round, with Kasim Adams scoring the winner in a 4-3 aggregate victory. Heiko Vogel's men have only won two of their last 10 Conference League matches in regulation time, and needed penalties to reach the quarter-finals.
