Its half-timbered exterior gives way to a cosy, luxe interior where the building’s period features shine, from oak beams and flagstone floors to open fires and cosy nooks.

Just lovely. All 45 rooms and suites are different with plenty of period charm and modern facilities.

Our suite had a separate living room with half-timbered walls,  quirky beams and country-chic sofas.

The bedroom featured antique furniture and the bathroom a very decent power shower.

Harry Potter fans should enquire after the tiny door under the stairs which opens into an enchanting bedroom.
