ON SUNDAY, June 18, 2023, OceanGate's submarine went missing with five passengers on board.
With a rescue mission underway, many are wondering about the price it cost to board the submersible.
How much does a Titanic submarine tour cost?
OceanGate Expeditions provides a pricey experience for passengers to travel to the bottom of the ocean to see the Titanic's wreckage.
According to an archived version of the website, the eight-day tour has a starting price of $250,000.
The website reads: "Follow in Jacques Cousteau’s footsteps and become an underwater explorer — beginning with a dive to the wreck of the RMS Titanic.

The week-long tour leaves out of St. John's, Newfoundland, and travels 12,500 feet to witness the wreckage.
Why was the Titanic 'unsinkable'?
On April 14, 1912, the RMS Titanic sank after hitting an iceberg on its journey to New York City.
Prior to taking on passengers, the 883 feet long ship was considered unsinkable because four of its 16 components "could be flooded without causing a critical loss of buoyancy," according to History.com.
Initially, the company that owns the Titanic, White Star Line, claimed the ship was "designed to be unsinkable," according to their brochure.
Media outlets then advanced the narrative that it was, making passengers believe it to be true.
Titanic passenger, Margaret Devaney said: "I took passage on the Titanic for I thought it would be a safe steamship and I had heard it could not sink."
Did any Titanic survivors swim to shore?
While many tried their best to swim to shore, those who survived were only able to swim to a lifeboat or floating wreckage.
About 1,500 people died when the Titanic tragically sank in the Atlantic Ocean.
Only 706 people survived; the survivors were made up of mainly women and children.

The last survivor to leave the shipwreck was Charles Joughin, who was the head baker on the Titanic.
It was reported that Joughin was asleep when the ship crashed into the iceberg.
Joughin swam two hours in the freezing water before he found a lifeboat and was later rescued by the RMS Carpathia.
What happened to the five missing submersible victims?
On June 22, 2023, OceanGate announced that the five missing passengers "have been lost."
The expeditor also confirmed that all five people on the missing Titanic sub are dead.
The following people were in the missing submersible:
- British businessman and billionaire Hamish Harding
- Pakistani billionaire Shahzada Dawood and his son Suleman
- Oceangate's CEO Stockton Rush
- Deep sea researcher and Titanic expert Paul Henri Nargeolet
After much investigation, the submarine is yet to be found.
