A "womb raider" who allegedly lured a 31-weeks pregnant woman with a phony job listing before ripping the child from her womb has been charged over the unborn baby's death.
Amber Waterman, 43, had previously been indicted in November for the alleged kidnapping and killing of 33-year-old Ashley Bush after the victim, from Arkansas, was found shot dead by authorities in Missouri on November 3.
The remains of the unborn child, named Valkyrie Grace Willis, were later discovered in a different location to the mum.
Court documents allege the suspect and her 43-year-old husband , Jamie Waterman, kidnapped Ashley "for the purpose and benefit of claiming Ashley Bush's child as the defendant's child."
Police believe the suspect lured the victim, who was looking for a job, with a fake interview posting under the pseudonym "Lucy."
Man who 'killed 4 students' was 'creepy' regular at brewery and 'harassed women'The pair met a library on October 28 and "Lucy" offered to help her find a job and pledged to put her in contact with someone.
They kept in contact and agreed to meet again at a local store on October 31 where Ashley was expecting to see the supposed boss who was going to find her a job.
She was dropped off at the store by her fiancé, Joshua Willis, who saw her leave with the woman he had seen meet with at the library.
Ashely texted Joshua at around 3pm to say she was on her way back to the store when she was allegedly kidnapped by a truck that Amber had been driving.
Joshua desperately called her after she failed to respond to his texts and phone calls.
Tragically, her body was found dead from a gunshot wound after she had been driven from Arkansas to Missouri where her remains were discovered.
Amber's husband Jamie has been charged with being an accessory in the murder after he told authorities he had burned Amber's body in a fire pit and confessed to the killing, according to police.
Before Amber was arrested, she denied knowing the victim and claimed in an interview with authorities at her home, she delivered a stillborn baby on October 31, the day the mum was reported missing.
Her fiancée Josh Willis said in a statement that he was “disgusted in the whole situation.”
“I wish that Ashley and Valkyrie were alive and home with us all. I can’t believe that there are people out there that would do something like this,” he said.
Husband and wife enjoy Xmas dinner days before she's charged with his murder“She was a great mother, a wonderful wife, a very outgoing, caring, and kind person. They didn’t deserve any of this. There are 3 amazing kids here that just lost their mother/best friend and little sister."
Amber Waterman faces life in prison if she is convicted and her husband faces a maximum prison term of 15 years.
The pair have pleaded not guilty.
