AN INCREDIBLE classic 1968 Ford Mustang in "remarkable" condition has gone up for auction.

The sale offers car fanatics who consider the mid-1960s as a golden time for Ford a walk, or drive, down memory lane.

At the time, the car manufacturer suggested that the 1968 Mustang it was “the most exciting car on the American road”.

One seller is now auctioning off the classic motor on Car & Classic for a price of £42,500.

Any prospective buyer looking to add an iconic car to their collection will be casting an envious glance at this motor.

And those itching to take the timeless classic on a wild spin may not be worrying about the eye-watering asking price.

The hot hatch originally left San Jose in 1968 before it was sold new in LA.

Described as being in "remarkable" condition, the auctioneers state that there is "zero rust" on the timeless motor.

It boasts a 4.7 litre V8 engine for petrol heads who are looking to handle a muscle car with a real roar.

Despite being faster and more powerful than its predecessors at the time, the motor is exceptionally well-manageable.

And the sleek Mustang has only clocked up 103,000 miles so is still in decent nick.

It has also been refurbished with a new suspension and steering system.

Inside, the smooth leather seats give the classic Ford a timeless feel.

While the paint and chrome have also been touched up on dark motor which was originally Arcadian Blue.

The seller has also stated that the car is "MOT and tax-exempt".

The Mustang was forever immortalised by Steve McQueen during the famous car chase scene in the 1960's film 'Bullitt'.
