Ten Hag knows the Dutch international, 25, well from his time in the Eredivisie.
And United have reportedly checked with Feyenoord on his availability - although they have been told that the Netherlands giants are "very reluctant" to sell.

And veteran United backup stopper Tom Heaton has also been blocked from joining Luton amid the current uncertainty around the goalie position at the club.
