Nina has become a staple of the show and presents the business news as well as standing in to host when other anchors are absent.

But today was her last time on the BBC Breakfast sofa for a while as she begins her maternity leave.

Her co-stars Jon Kay and Sally Nugent paid tribute to her as they said goodbye for now.

Turning to Nina, Sally said: "We just wanted to say thank you, goodbye for now and good luck."

She then joked how viewers have been asking why Nina hadn't taken her leave yet.

"I went big early, I'm big boned, actually I'm not big boned I just popped out early so it felt like I've been pregnant forever and for months people have been saying 'your bosses at the BBC need to let you go'," Nina joked.

"We can't wait to see you again but enjoy every moment," added Jon.

He then reached for a bouquet of flowers for Nina before the team gave her a round of applause.

Nina is married to Ted who works as a caterer.

The couple first met in Tisno, Croatia, in 2013 and married on March 21, 2014.

The pair have two sons called Digby and Michael.
