Speculation had been mounting that the England international was about to join another United legend's club in America.
Lingard was linked with a switch to DC United, who are managed by Wayne Rooney, but that rumour was quickly ruled out.

Lingard is currently on holiday in the US while he mulls over his next move and he used the opportunity to go to Inter Miami - the club co-owned by United and England icon Beckham - to maintain his fitness.
Clips were shared of him at the DRV PNK Stadium in Florida training on his social media, and in it someone could be heard in the background saying: "Six minutes guys, rest there."
It remains to be seen whether Cristiano Ronaldo's former team-mate will link up with new signing Lionel Messi at Inter permanently.
Lingard has also been linked with a move to Saudi Arabia recently - and he has refused to rule anything out when asked about it by Sky Sports.
