A CARE worker told how she woke to find an intruder in her bedroom at 4am – hours before he murdered an ex-GP.

Paulina Babska, 20, lay frozen in terror as knife monster Alan Massie, 32, wandered around before trying other doors in Forfar.

The maniac did a pee in her downstairs cupboard and left her frozen in fear after she woke to find him peering into her bedroom at 4am.

He left followed by alarmed Paulina and her dad.

By that time he was trying other doors, but when he spotted the pair he screamed, “I’ll put a bullet in your head” and “I’ll kill your kids”.

Paulina said: “I feel really lucky.

“He could easily have did to us what he did to the old man.

“I check my door is locked three times a day now.

Another one of Massie's victims told how he bravely tackled the fiend who’d crept into his home as his family slept.

Bradley Archibald, 27, said he wanted to give the brute an “absolute pasting” but was just relieved to get him out — only for his blood to run cold when he learned he then wandered into another house nearby and slaughtered ex-GP William Yule.

Career criminal Massie stabbed Dr Yule, 90, twice in the throat during a terrifying onslaught, with one thrust severing the OAP’s jugular vein.

Hours before the attack, chilling CCTV images show the monster prowling the streets of Forfar with a high-vis vest around his neck.

He tried a succession of doors to see if they were unlocked — gaining access to two homes including Bradley’s — before killing Dr Yule in his kitchen hours later.

Tormented Bradley told The Scottish Sun: “We had a very lucky escape. I wanted to batter the guy when I caught him in the house.

“But what if I had went for him and he’d stabbed me?

“There are a lot of ifs — like what if I had gone for him and the old man was still here?

“Hindsight is a wonderful thing. I was just happy to get him out of the house and get the door locked.”

Massi had been living in homeless digs in Arbroath at the time and regularly used cannabis and diazepam.

He walked into the house Bradley shares with his sister Holly, 18, and mum Wendy at 3.45am last December 6.

Maintenance engineer Bradley told how he knew something was wrong when he heard banging in the hallway.

When the intruder poked his head into his bedroom door, he shot up shouting, “Who the f**k are you?”

He then grabbed startled Massie by the elbows and forced him out the front door onto the street.

Bradley said: “I was ready to absolutely paste him but he claimed there was a lassie outside screaming for help.

“I was outside in the cold in the middle of December with just a pair of boxers with no glasses on so I was blind.

“I told him to wait when I went to get dressed but he left.”

Bradley called police as his neighbour’s Ring doorbell captured the images of him outside.

Student Holly later noticed her car keys were missing.

Bradley said he was told who the thief was and was considering taking matters into his own hands when he heard about the murder.

He added: “I was disgusted. We had a very lucky escape. I never ever leave the door unlocked now.”

Holly has also been left traumatised by Dr Yule’s killing.

She said: “It is horrible. It’s just awful. It could have been us.

“I always think about it at night time when I’m struggling to sleep.”

After being thrown out by Bradley, Massie wandered into gardens and tried other doors before getting into Paulina Babska’s house.

Just seven hours later, Massie murdered Dr Yule.

The fiend reached the grandad’s home shortly after 11am before knifing him twice in the throat.

Amid the struggle, a cooker fell on top of the vulnerable pensioner.

Other injuries inflicted on him by evil Massi included a broken arm and ribs and a brain injury.

We told how Dr Yule managed to activate his community alarm and a call handler phoned the house.

But Massie pretended that he was his victim’s grandson and insisted everything was “fine”.

As he left the home, the brute was confronted on the driveway by a cleaner.

Massie told her Dr Yule had a “fall” and claimed he was his grandson.

She walked in and found Dr Yule dead and covered in blood, lying on his back in the kitchen.

Massi, who was on bail for a knife rap at the time, later boasted to cops: “Wait until you see the pictures. It’s not a pretty sight.”

The monster was last month jailed for at least 20 years after admitting murder.

Passing a life sentence, Judge Lord Fairlie told him: “The level of evil you showed is beyond comprehension.

“Your incarceration for a very long time can only be positive for society.”
