Most people get on with our neighbours just fine, but the unlucky souls among us have the complete opposite experience; enduring heated spats with the family next door over stolen post; festering over a missing wheelie bin or posting angry notes about dreadful noise through letterboxes.

We've all heard the horror stories about endless neighbour drama that just won't let up, but more unusual is a neighbour who is so infatuated by you that they send you odd notes to get your attention.

Depending on whether the feeling is mutual, this could be just as unpleasant, especially if you don't know how to break it to them that you're not interested.

This is the awkward scenario that one woman found herself in when her 'creepy' neighbour posted a bizarre letter through her door in an unusual attempt to try and impress her.

The bloke's attempt at communication was so strange that his best friend took to Reddit to share his thoughts on the matter, admitting that it's a "weird and pointless" way to behave.

The friend wrote: "So, friend of mine earns a decent wage 50k a year. For his June wage slip he also had an extra 5k added to his wage so before tax it was something like 9k. It was an accounting error and his company picked it up before transferring him the funds.

"However, my friend saw this an opportunity to try and impress his attractive neighbour. He put the wage slip in a blank envelope and posted it through her door hoping she would open it see his name on it and be impressed he earns 9k a month before tax."

The strange brag didn't go down well with the recipient, as the neighbour's pal explained: "She just posted it back through his door, letter was opened. He is now planning to do it to another neighbour, this time a male who has a bigger house and apparently likes to think he is rich."

"I told him this is weird and pointless. I am right aren't I?"

While the mate was "in stitches" over the unusual befriending tactic, others remarked it could be read as far more sinister and even "creepy"'.

One popular comment read "It's not just weird… it's creepy," while another added: "Indeed.. very creepy. The poor woman he posted his wage slip to, probably creeped her right out .. he did her her favour by posting an equivalent to a red flag through her door."

Another person fumed: "If he's the sort of man who thinks money is the way to impress women, he'll get the woman he deserves."

Meanwhile, a third person simply wrote: "Very sad and very weird and very delusional".
