A teenage athlete's remains may never be found after he jumped off a boat into the sea, a shark expert has claimed.

Cameron Robbins, a baseball star, disappeared after jumping off a boat in the Bahamas while on a graduation trip.

Shark expert Kevin McMurray, who runs a website that collects information on shark attacks, believes that Cameron may have encountered a shark, based on the footage.

Speaking to the Mirror, Mr McMurray suggested that Cameron initially spotted something in the water, possibly a shark, and instead of swimming towards a life ring, he turned around and splashed to get away from it.

Mr McMurray claimed that Cameron's body may have been consumed by a shark, given the presence of tiger sharks in the area.

"So my analysis, what I think happened is, he got in the water and he was swimming around, the shark, for some reason, or whatever it is - I'm not for sure saying it is a shark, but it looks a lot like a shark - essentially it comes and surfaces and there's a life ring out to his right."

He said that recovering any remains would be nearly impossible due to the large search area and currents

Mr McMurray analyzed the footage of Cameron's last moments and offered his interpretation. He suggested that there appeared to be a shark or something similar in the water at the beginning of the video.

He said: "My guess is that if something like that did occur, maybe a single bite or something like that, more than likely, again you can't say because anything's possible, but exposure would probably be what I think would have occurred and he may have died of that.

"Either he sank or a shark ate his body, that's possible. There are a lot of tiger sharks there, and they'll scavenge."

The expert speculated that Cameron may have been swimming and encountered the shark, causing him to turn around and try to get away. He mentioned that the splashing seen in the video could be Cameron's attempt to escape from the shark.

Regarding Cameron's fate, McMurray mentioned several possibilities. He stated that if a shark attack did occur, it would likely involve a single bite, and Cameron may have died from exposure or sank.

Ultimately, Mr McMurray acknowledged that it was possible there could be remains left if Cameron was consumed, but recovering them would be extremely challenging due to the large search area and currents.
