COULD Roy Cropper be at the centre of a shocking love triangle in an upcoming trip to Weatherfield?

Following last night's Coronation Street instalment, fans are convinced Yasmeen Nazir has taken a liking to him.

The beloved café owner portrayed by David Neilson was recently operated on after being diagnosed with angina.

In the early stages of his recovery, Roy remained in hospital and the Speed Daal co-owner (played by Shelley King) paid him a visit, returning his late wife Hayley's iconic red raincoat.

The gesture solidified their friendship once again but in scenes aired on ITV last night (Monday, July 3, 2023), viewers believed they could sense growing chemistry between both characters.

Roy and Yasmeen attended a pub quiz, teaming up to find all the right answers.

But in doing so, Yasmeen made her partner Stu Carpenter (Bill Fellows) feel more left out than ever.

Hurt and feeling isolated, Stu distanced himself even further as soap fans took to Twitter sharing their predictions of an explosive love triangle.

One viewer penned: "Stu was jealous of Roy. If there’s one person you need to worry about. It’s Roy", as another added: "Yasmeen and Roy?"

"She's being very horrible to Stu. Going off him and wanting relations with Roy", a third fan fumed.

Another handful of fans mentioned they would rather see Roy form a romantic bond with one of his dearest friends, Evelyn Plummer.

Sadly, this is unlikely to happen as Evelyn (Maureen Lipman) was last seen leaving the cobbles in a taxi on Friday (June 30, 2023), alongside her daughter Cassie.

"Yasmeen is in a right love triangle. Roy or Stu? I hope she stays with Stu they are more suited. Roy needs to get together with Evelyn."

One soap fan commented: "Yasmeen, get away from Evelyn’s man."

As mentioned above, Evelyn left Weatherfield after making the decision to help her addict daughter (Claire Sweeney) get sober again.

However, she admitted she couldn't afford to send her back to rehab which prompted her to make the decision to get away from the Street until Cassie was completely over her addictions.

Evelyn explained her decision by telling Cassie she needed to earn the right to properly meet her son Tyrone Dobbs (Alan Halsall) - but how will it play out?

While this remains to be seen, Yasmeen and Stu eventually had a conversation about her bonding with Roy in later scenes aired last night.

"I wanted to come home to say I am sorry for dragging you out to a pub quiz you never really wanted to go to", she first said.

"It's so silly, I got so competitive showing off because I knew a few silly answers."

The pair eventually made up with Yasmeen pretending she was a "rebel" during her academic years with a penchant for bad boys.

But is Stu really the right man for her?

Will Roy finally find a partner, years after his wife Hayley's heartbreaking death?

Coronation Street airs every Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 8pm on ITV.
