Manchester United target Victor Osimhen has dropped the clearest hint on his future yet by stating that there is “no better place” than Napoli.
The Nigerian hitman has been linked with a move away from the Serie A club this summer after spearheading their first title success in 33 years last term. The Red Devils emerged as one of the prime candidates for his signature as Erik ten Hag aimed to add a big-name forward to his squad.
German giants Bayern Munich were linked with a move, whilst Arsenal have also been urged to swoop for Osimhen. However, he appears to not be in a rush to move having underlined his happiness with life in Naples.
Speaking to Nigerian outlet Soccernet, via Sportbild, the striker said: “I’ve never seen a more football-crazy city than Naples. The Neapolitans show all their love for footballers.
“Children love me, many people admire me, idolize me by wearing a replica of my mask. The hard work I’ve done for them has paid off. Now they’re showing me that they admire me for it.”

The striker suggested that whilst he was keen to add more silverware to his collection, he believes he could achieve that target at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona.

“This is my first major trophy as a professional,” the 24-year-old added. “Now I’m addicted to titles.
“I can’t wait for the new season to start. For me, there is no better place than this. I’m very happy that I made the right decision to come here.”
Amid Osimhen’s claims over his future, it appears that it will be difficult to do a deal for the striker’s signature. He has two years remaining on his Napoli contract, whilst club director Aurelio de Laurentiis has regularly underlined his desire to keep him at the club.
Even if he relents and agrees to sell, it would take a huge fee to secure Osimhen’s services. Napoli are hoping to receive over £100m for him this summer should they cash-in.
That has seen United turn to a series of alternatives in the form of Harry Kane, Randal Kolo Muani and Ramsus Hojlund. Deals for any of the trio will certainly not be easier though, with their current employers also demanding a premium for their respective frontmen.
Elsewhere, the Red Devils are on the verge of sealing a deal for Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount. The England star will become United’s first signing of the window. He has already confirmed his Stamford Bridge departure in an emotional farewell message to Chelsea supporters.
