A Florida man is charged with murdering his father and stealing $450,000 from the family trust fund.
The bullet-ridden body of lawyer Paul Labiner, 68, was found outside his office at the Monterey building complex in Boca Raton on Saturday. His son Brandon Labiner, 34 and also a lawyer, has been charged with first-degree murder.
Brandon Labiner was disbarred in April after his father sued him, accusing his son of stealing $450,000. He appeared in Palm Beach County court on Monday.
The Boca Raton Police Department said in a statement that a person of interest had barricaded themselves in a building and only came out after a SWAT team negotiated with them.
“The subject cooperated and was taken into custody without incident. At the time, the subject was arrested on the active warrant,” cops said in the statement. “He was later transported to the Palm Beach County Jail while investigators continued to conduct interviews and gather evidence to determine the subject’s involvement in the death investigation.”

Brandon's lawyer said his client is 'grieving' (Facebook)Police linked Brandon Labiner to the shooting after surveillance footage from a number of locations showed a suspect driving around the area around 2pm on the day of the killing.
A police report says the same person was then seen with a drawstring bag travelling up to Paul Labiner's office on a bike.
The report says police found a “drawstring backpack, a .9mm firearm magazine, multiple boxes of various brands of ammunition, a box for a gun, a gas can, a lighter, gloves, and a face mask,” in the suspect's car.
In the footage, the suspect, a man, is then seen removing a box containing a gun from the bag.

The scuffling men then go out of shot, before the suspect is seen running away with the gun.
Brandon Labiner's criminal defence lawyer Valentin Rodriguez disputes the charges against his client and said he is "grieving his father’s death," the South Florida Sun-Sentinel reported.
The father and son had an uneasy relationship in the run-up to Paul Labiner's death.
They previously worked together at the same law firm set up by Paul Labiner in the 1980s.
“Brandon’s poor work ethic and subpar performance as a plaintiff’s attorney caused the volume of cases to drastically dwindle to what (Paul Labiner) believe is no more than a handful of viable cases,” county court documents seen by the New York Post from the civil suit allege.
