WHERE do you put your damp towel when you've just showered?

According to a professional mould inspector there's a spot you should never leave them - and no, it's not the floor.

Brian Karr, who is the co-founder of We Inspect, revealed that you shouldn't hang wet towels next to any drywall in your home.

"Drywall is basically like hard paper, when you put moist, wet towels up against that you're just asking for a mould problem," he explained.

Not only that, but you might not even spot the trouble on the surface of your walls until it's too late.

Brain said: "A lot of times there's staining or dripping, but then behind that the moisture soaks into the drywall and you end up getting a mould problem back there."

So, where should you hang your damp towels?

Brain suggested hanging them over the top of your shower screen or rail until they're dry.

Not only that, but hanging wet towels on your door could be a recipe for disaster too.

"Wait until the towel is dry, and then you're good to hang them there," he said.

After sharing his mould prevention advice on Instagram, other homeowners were amazed they didn't think of it before.

One said: "This is actually really helpful and makes a lot of sense."

"I never considered this but you're so right," a second wrote.

But not everyone was convinced it was neccessary.

"Does painted drywall not help at all though? I feel like paint would help act as a protectant," someone else commented.

Another said: "Surely two coats of satin paint makes a barrier of protection for drywall?"
