Jeff and Gleason-Mitchell were remanded into custody to next appear at Ipswich Crown Court.

Suffolk Police confirmed they are not looking for anyone else in connection with the horror.

A mandatory referral has been made to the Independent Office for Police Conduct regarding previous contact with the tragic girl elsewhere.

A post mortem was carried out on Tuesday but further tests are needed to establish a cause of death.

The toddler was discovered at a homeless families unit in Sidegate Lane, which is operated by Ipswich Borough Council and staffed 24 hours a day.

Horrified neighbours told how police and ambulances descended on the scene last week.

One local said: "When I saw the two forensics vans pull up, I knew something was wrong.

"Two women were doing the forensic investigation and they were red-eyed when they came out."

Another neighbour added: "The police officer who came and asked if my CCTV was working looked like they were tearful too. It's awful, just awful."

Anyone with information has been asked to call police on 101 quoting crime reference 37/37749/23.
