A woman who claims she hasn't washed her hair 'in years' has shared the storecupboard ingredient she uses instead of shampoo and conditioner. TikTok influencer Kelsi Giroux regularly shares health and beauty tips with her followers, with an emphasis on all things natural and environmentally friendly.

In a recent vid, Kelsi admitted she actually hadn't washed her hair 'in a couple of years', declaring that the product she uses instead is far 'cheaper and more environmentally friendly'.

The clip shows Kelsi shaking a jar of apple cider vinegar, a product many of us will use in our cooking, revealing that she mixes this with water before pouring it on her head, massaging it all in just as she would with shampoo.

Kelsi - who goes by the TikTok username @kelsigiroux, said: "I love apple cider vinegar because it cleans your hair and scalp but it doesn't strip it, so my hair doesn’t really get very greasy.

"It actually soothes your scalp and helps to reduce dandruff. I find it a lot cheaper and more environmentally friendly. This is all compared to regular shampoo and conditioner."

After rubbing her thrifty product into her scalp, Kelsi - who says she does this twice a week - then gives her hair 'a good rinse'.

The video has since clocked up more than 123.1K likes, with many left intrigued by Kelsi's alternative haircare regime.

One person commented: "As a hairstylist, this is amazing to renew your hair!!!"

Another wrote: "In my hippie phase I used to do this all the time, I always smelled like a salad though."

Many haircare enthusiasts swear by this simple ingredient, which is said to have soothing qualities.

As previously reported by Cosmopolitan, the natural antibacterial and antifungal properties of apple cider vinegar make it an effective tool when tackling and preventing dandruff-causing yeast on the scalp.
