A woman has been slammed as 'entitled' after she held up a cruise holiday, and did not appear to be particularly bothered.

Other passengers did not take kindly to the move, and a clip on TikTok shows hundreds of people at their cabin balconies jeering at her while she makes her way up to the dock.

The clip shared by @designsbyd1 shows the holidaymaker strolling along the ship, carrying her bags and not appearing to feel any sort of rush to get onboard, despite being 45 minutes late.

The accompanying caption reads: "How do you say entitled without saying it? A lady showing up with no urgency as the cruise ship waits for her to board 45 after boarding time."

Cruise ships won't always wait for late passengers. Rules differ between cruise lines, but captains often take into account the number of people missing, planned arrival times and other factors before making the decision to leave a passenger behind.

The exception is if you're on an excursion organised by the cruise line, in which case they will wait for you.

In the comments, some people suggested that she may have booked onto an official shore excursion, hence why the ship waited for a single passenger. "If the ship was waiting it was because it was their fault she was late," one person wrote. "They don't wait otherwise".

However, others were dubious. One cruise holidaymaker argued: "Everyone saying she must have booked her excursion through the ship... how is it on a ship that huge that only one person took that specific excursion?"

Still, overall commenters were unimpressed with the woman's lack of urgency. One person said she "people should be fined" if they hold up a ship, while another wondered if she may be close to either crew or the captain. They suggested: "Maybe she's an important person, the audacity".

Another person questioned the bravery of actually strolling around instead of running. They wrote: "I couldn't sashay up this dock knowing allll these people were waiting for me. Wherever we docked I live there now".

There were some passengers who quipped that the woman's decision to stroll was more of a power move to pretend she wasn't bothered by the crowds of people jeering.

One person wrote: "This would be me. I'd book a flight before running in front of people".

If you miss a cruise ship, there are ways to catch it back up. The first place you should head is the port agent, as they can help stranded passengers organise onward travel, often including flights and hotels at the ship's next destination. However, it's worth noting that this will all be at your own expense.

Passengers are also urged to call the ship - it won't turn around to come and pick you up, but it's useful as they then know where you are, and you can find out where the ship is heading to catch it up.

One key question to ask them is what they've done with your belongings. Some cruise lines see that passengers are late and pack up their stuff to leave at the port, while others keep items and bags on board.
