The Sun revealed this week how Labour ministers in Cardiff had held meetings with the climate zealots, who subsequently bragged about influencing its green policies.

In his letter to Sir Keir — obtained by The Sun — Welsh Secretary Mr Davies blasts: “Extinction Rebellion holds regular meetings with the Welsh Labour government and has boasted of its huge input on policy before it’s decided.

“That’s a privilege law-abiding people can only dream of. This organisation is attempting to get the laws of our land changed through intimidation.”

He added: “It is appalling that the Welsh government is not fazed by their determination to disrupt people’s daily lives.”

Tory Mr Davies says ordinary people are “fed up” with the widespread chaos caused by the antics of eco activists.

Following our story, the Welsh government refused to back down and said it will “continue to engage with the full spectrum of opinion on climate change, which includes Extinction Rebellion”.

Urging Sir Keir to wade in, Mr Davies adds in his letter: “Your Welsh Labour colleagues must stop giving Extinction Rebellion legitimacy and end their regular meetings with this group.”

Sir Keir — who technically cannot overrule Welsh First Minister Mark Drakeford — has dodged media questions about the Labour administration’s links to XR.

However, he did go on the attack over Just Stop Oil, saying that the activists “just need to stop” invading major sporting events such as Wimbledon and The Ashes.
