CHRISTOPHER Maloney has sparked a flurry of worrying messages from friends and fans after sharing some photos of his badly bloodied face.

The former X Factor star's appearance is the result of his 20th cosmetic procedure amid a tough battle with body dysmorphia.

In the pictures, Chris' eyes are severely swollen and he has stitches all around his eyelids.

One side of his face is particularly sore, with a large smattering of congealed blood and scabs.

Posting the photos on Instagram, Christopher, 45, admitted: "Think ive gone to far! Need a hug xx."

Chris has also typed out the hashtags: "#bodydysmorphia  #bodydysmorphia #bodydysmorphicdisorder #mentalhealthawareness #mentalhealth #positivity."

Unsurprisingly, the singer's post has sparked concern among his followers.

One has told him: "Chris as your friend of 10 years I’m asking you to please stop you’re beautiful you don’t need anymore xx."

Another has written: "Chris, you really do not need to do this to your beautiful self. Please stop. Sending hugs. Love you lots xx."

And someone else said: "I'm sending you hugs, please, please stop doing this. You really are a handsome fella with a good heart. Please no more."

Christopher flew to Poland for his surgery and is currently recuperating in hospital there.

The ex Celebrity Big Brother contestant has since spoken to MailOnline and confirmed he has had blepharoplasty. The private procedure sees excess skin being removed from the eyelids.

Christopher told the publication that his Body Dysmorphic Disorder (BDD) has been in "overdrive" for the past 12 months.

The NHS states that BDD is "a mental health condition where a person spends a lot of time worrying about flaws in their appearance. These flaws are often unnoticeable to others".

The NHS website also urges who people think they may be suffering to contact their GP, adding: "Getting help is important because your symptoms probably will not go away without treatment and may get worse.

"You can also refer yourself directly to an NHS talking therapies service without a referral from a GP."

Speaking about the condition, Chris has told MailOnline it is an "uncontrollable addition".

He added: "My body dysmorphia, my anxiety and depression has taken over my life. In the past 12 months it's gone into overdrive.

"This is my 20th surgery in seven years and it's a really major. I know it's excessive but I just can't help it. I need to stop but I can't."

Christopher, who found fame on The X Factor in 2012, also says he "feels sick" when he looks in the mirror.

The star believes he has spent around £100,000 out of his own pocket on various surgeries over the years, including nose jobs, hair transplants, veneers and other eye lifts.

In 2015, Chris opened up on This Morning and explained that his mental health took a huge knock due to the online trolling and death threats he received while on The X Factor.

He said: "As the series was going on and the further I got in the competition, I was getting really bad trolls.

"They were telling me they were going to kill me, they were going to shoot me. I got called Mr Potato Head, that I was ugly and I've got a big nose.

"It's just affected me so much. At the end of the final, I did have a breakdown."

Christopher did go on to describe the ITV team as "fantastic" and said he received treatment in the private hospital The Priory.
