She resigned after eight years when an abusive customer called her a “s*** c***” and Mr Malone told her: “Well, you are one, aren’t you?”
A tribunal found Ms Tubby the victim of “harassment by unwanted conduct of a sexual nature” by Mr Malone, of Harold Hill, Essex, and that she had been constructively, unfairly and wrongfully dismissed.
From tongue scraping to saying no, here are 12 health trends to try in 2023Employment judge Anthony Ross, in East London, ruled the term “blondie” was belittling.
The judge said: "The tribunal found that the actions of the second respondent did create an intimidating, offensive and humiliating environment.
"The conduct towards the claimant was because of her sex; a male receptionist would not have been treated in that way.
The abusive term contained a crude reference to female genitalia, which the tribunal considered would probably not have been adopted when speaking to a male receptionist."
The level of damages will be set in September.
