Who is Mayim Bialik?

Mayim Bialik is an American actress from San Diego, California, who was born on December 12, 1975,

Her cinematic debut was in the film Beaches, where she portrayed the younger version of Bette Midler's lead character.

Mayim experienced a career breakthrough after signing on to star in the NBC sitcom Blossom in 1991.

The show ran for four years, wrapping up in May 1995, but Bialik went on to enjoy much more success in the years that followed.

The Big Bang Theory fans know Mayim as Amy Farrah Fowler, a role she took on in 2010 for the sitcom's third season.

Her role mirrored her real life, in that both her character, and the actress are neuroscientists.

Mayim continued to portray the character until the CBS show ended after its 12th season.

Mayim went on to star in sitcom Call Me Kat, produced by fellow Big Bang alum Jim Parsons, which premiered on Fox in 2021.

The titular character, played by Mayim, resides in Louisville, Kentucky, and operates a cat café.

Mayim has a doctorate in neuroscience from the University of California in Los Angeles.

Though she divorced Michael Stone in 2012, she remains close with her two sons from the marriage, Miles and Frederick.

What is Mayim's net worth?

According to Celebrity Net Worth, Mayim has an estimated net worth of $25 million.

Her fortune is attributed to her leading roles in television, especially her turn on The Big Bang Theory.

In 2017 it was reported that Big Bang stars Kaley Cuoco, Jim Parsons, Johnny Galecki, Kunal Nayyar, and Simon Helberg, who all earned over £1 m for each episode, offered to take a pay cut to help bolster Mayim and fellow newcomer Melissa Rauch's salaries.

The big five all offered to take a pay cut of around $100,000 to ensure Mayim and Melissa got a raise.

It was reported that the cash saved from their wages would boost Mayim and Melissa’s to around $450,000 per episode.

Bialik's Big Bang Salary is a long way from the money she made from Blossom.

Mayim told the Ever After podcast: "I did not have the kind of financial success that would’ve set me up for the rest of my life.

"Also, our show was never put into syndication. Being a female was very different then."

When did Mayim leave Jeopardy?

Jeopardy! confirmed in 2022 that Mayim Bialik and Ken Jennings were being made permanent co-hosts of the quiz show, officially ending the search for the late Alex Trebek's replacement.

From May 31, 2021, to June 11, 2021, Mayim guest hosted the game show while the program's executives vetted who would replace Trebek, following his death from pancreatic cancer.

Throughout the season, she and former contestant Ken Jennings split hosting duties.

In early Mary 2023, she abruptly exited the show in support of the Writer's Strike and was replaced by Ken with just one week of filming season 39.

Mayim's role as host of the popular show has resulted in some harsh words from Jeopardy! fans.

In July 2023, she addressed the backlash in a video on her YouTube, answering a question from a fan who said: "What do you do when you feel useless, irrelevant, and worthless, or do you not ever feel that way?"

Mayim replied: "Great question - I do feel that way and it's kind of a hard question to answer because, obviously, from where I'm sitting, I have a platform and I get to talk to people.

"I would say I am grateful I have the opportunity to be here, but I'm still a human and I often feel like what I'm doing is not what I'm supposed to be doing or I'm not doing it well enough."

Bialik has since revealed that her abrupt exit was because she was fired from the show. She shared the news in December 2023.
