TROOPS will march straight into civil service jobs so their skills are not wasted, Rishi Sunak said last night.
The PM vowed to axe bureaucracy on Armed Forces personnel moving into government posts — and between the three services.
It could mean army medics joining the NHS or nuclear engineers taking up Whitehall roles.
Mr Sunak said: “In the Armed Forces we’ve got people with extraordinary experience.
“It’s important we benefit from that more broadly.

“So we’re making it easier for people to move from the services into the civil service and into government so we can then benefit from their expertise.”
He added: “What I don’t want is that we spend all this time investing in people, training them, being very fortunate to have them and then not hanging on to them.
He is set to unveil the plans when the long-awaited defence strategy is finally published next week.
Mr Sunak said the command paper would make our armed forces more “agile” to deploy.

The war in Ukraine and conflict in other areas around the world has highlighted the need for a strong military.
To keep numbers up, the British Army is now on manoeuvres to hire 10,000 new troops this year.
The RAF needs 2,500 to swell its ranks and around 5,000 will join the Navy.
There are more than 200 Army roles available, from frontline combat to cyber security, helicopter pilot to chef.
