Devastated fans of TV star Angus Cloud have noted eerie similarities between his tragic death and the passing of rap star Mac Miller.
The Euphoria actor was declared dead on Monday - passing away at the age of 25, just weeks after the dearth of his own father. While rap star Mac passed away aged 26 in 2018 and his death was later ruled by a coroner as being caused by an accidental overdose.
Both stars died at their own homes with Angus passing away at his family's home in Oakland, California, where emergency services declared him dead at the scene. Mac was found at his home in Studio City, Los Angeles, and was pronounced dead at the scene when paramedics arrived.
Social media has been flooded by fans who have paid tribute to Angus and noted how his death has reminded them of Mac's passing. One tweeted: "Losing Angus Cloud is bringing back a certain feeling I had when we first heard about Mac Miller passing."
Many more concurred, with one writing: "Why does this feel like Mac Miller part 2??? I AM NOT OKAY. RIP Angus Cloud." While another lamented: "I wanted so badly to see Angus Cloud play as Mac Miller in a Biopic. Damn. RIP to them both. Both died TOO young."
Sarah Lancashire feared telling TV bosses about 'debilitating depression battle'Fans of Angus had previously been stunned by his physical resemblance to late musician Mac - with many urging him to play the tragic musician in a biography. However, Angus himself had ruled out ever playing the singer.
He told e-talk last year: “I don't think I would be prepared to take on someone's life and legacy and try to replay that, you know? That man is a legend and he's going to remain one. May he rest in peace, you feel me?”
Angus has been survived by his mother, Lisa Cloud Hickey, and his two sisters, Molly Hickey and Fiona Hickey, and the family have noted that the actor battled depression during his lifetime. Mac Miller also battled the disease and openly discussed how he would be left feeling desperately low while in a depressed state.
Police in Oakland have confirmed they are investigating Angus’s death and a cause of death has not been revealed.
In a statement shared with The Mirror, a spokesperson for the force said: "The Oakland Police Department (OPD) is investigating a death that occurred today, July 31, 2023, just after 11:30 AM, in the 200 block of Euclid Avenue. The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene.
"The cause of death is unknown. There's no additional information being released at this time. This is an active death investigation."
The actor - who played Fezco “Fez” O'Neill on the HBO series Euphoria - was confirmed dead by his family in a statement released on Monday. In an emotional tribute, they declared: "It is with the heaviest heart that we had to say goodbye to an incredible human today. As an artist, a friend, a brother and a son, Angus was special to all of us in so many ways."
The statement, which was shared by TMZ, also revealed that the actor had buried his own father earlier in the month, explaining: "Last week he buried his father and intensely struggled with this loss. The only comfort we have is knowing Angus is now reunited with his dad, who was his best friend."
The statement added: “Angus was open about his battle with mental health and we hope that his passing can be a reminder to others that they are not alone and should not fight this on their own in silence. We hope the world remembers him for his humor, laughter and love for everyone. We ask for privacy at this time as we are still processing this devastating loss."
Euphoria creator Sam Levinson paid tribute to the actor in a statement to The Hollywood Reporter, saying, “There was no one quite like Angus. He was too special, too talented and way too young to leave us so soon. He also struggled, like many of us, with addiction and depression. I hope he knew how many hearts he touched. I loved him. I always will. Rest in peace and God Bless his family.”
