STRICTLY Come Dancing has risked a new fix row with its latest signing.

Irish TV star Angela Scanlon has a series of past dancing experience that could put her at an advantage to her fellow co-stars.

The 39 year old star will be hoping to sizzle in front of the judges on the BBC One show and her past experience will likely put her at the forefront and to the top of the leaderboard.

Back in 2001, Angela was a trained dancer with the O'Shea Irish Dance Company.

It saw her performing professionally before she became a household name thanks to her TV work.

Angela even landed a role as a dancer in a US show.

She performed in the Irish Thunder dance show as Busch Gardens Williamsburg in Virginia.

However, an inside source said: “There is no rule that celebrities cannot have dance experience before taking part and it would be near impossible to find a cast of 15 celebrities who have no previous dance experience as many people in the entertainment industry go to stage school.

"They have never been trained in Ballroom or Latin and have not tried to hide their dancing experience, but it is not remotely similar to what they will be required to learn for the show.”

The BBC talent show has been known to come under fire from viewers in the past over stars who have had previous dance training.

West End star Layton Williams also risks the same thanks to his wealth of performing experience.

Her Strictly news was announced on this morning's Zoe Ball Breakfast Show on Radio 2, which was being fronted by Gaby Roslin.

Joking that she was terrible at keeping secrets, Angela, 39, explained: "I've only told 1,700 of my closest friends".

She added: "I'm terrified, I'm excited and I have so many questions. Will they make me tan?

"How itchy are sequins?! Do they do flesh coloured sports bras? Well - there's only one way to find out, right?"

Asked which pro dancer she wanted to be paired with, the TV presenter - who also hosts a chat show in Ireland - said: "You know what, I think they're all unbelievable."

Angela joins Eddie Kadi, Amanda Abbington, Krishnan Guru-Murthy, Angela Rippon and Layton Williams in the 2023 line-up.
