Who is Charlie Puth dating?

In March 2022, Charlie Puth revealed in a TikTok video that he had the "worst breakup" of his life in 2019.

The singer-songwriter, born on December 2, 1991, in Rumson, New Jersey, shared that his song That's Hilarious would reflect the breakup.

He told his TikTok followers, "I'm really excited for the song to come out, but every time I hear it, I’m kind of brought back to a time that was really, really, really challenging in my life.

"It just rears its ugly head every time — sorry — every time that I hear it."

He added that 2019 was the "f***in' worst year" for him.

However, Charlie has been dating a family friend, Brooke Sansone, since the summer of 2022.

On December 2, 2022 — his 31st birthday — Charlie confirmed their relationship on his Instagram with a series of cute pictures of him and Brooke, referencing his song Loser.

"Ohhhhh I'm NOT a loser…'cause I didn't lose her!!! ???? (Happy birthday to me.)," he captioned the post.

Subsequently, Brooke commented on the post, saying, "it's national charlie day."

Almost a year after hard-launching their relationship, Charlie took to Instagram to reveal the pair's engagement.

In September 2023, the singer shared a series of cute photos of the two enjoying pizza in New York City while Brooke showed off her ring.

"I flew to New York to ask my best friend to marry me, and she said yes," he wrote in the post.

"I am the happiest, best version of myself and it is all because of you Brookie. I love you endlessly forever and ever and ever."

In December 2023, Charlie spoke with People about wedding planning before his performance at TikTok's In the Mix event.

"I like to keep some things in the confines of our home, of course, because stuff gets out so easily," he said, adding that "planning a wedding is a lot like planning a tour. It's probably even more intense."

He also said he and Brooke's relationship is "kind of just in the DNA."

"I've known her. I mean, she grew up one town over from me in New Jersey, and my parents know her parents," he said.

"Her dad has been best friends with my dad since the third grade, so it's kind of like I'm just gaining another family right away, even before the wedding.

"And they've also known me before the fame, before everything, so I can't think of a better situation, quite frankly."

Who has Charlie Puth dated?

Although he did not specifically name who That's Hilarious was about in his TikTok post, people have speculated that it is about his most serious relationship before he began dating Brooke.

Charlie and singer Charlotte Lawrence dated for a total of seven months, according to Page Six.

Charlotte is known for being a friend of the Kardashians, as she has been seen on social media hanging out with Kendall and Kylie Jenner.

The former couple went Instagram official for Valentine's Day 2019 and split in September 2019.

Charlotte has made several breakup songs, such as her July 2019 single Why Do You Love Me.

Charlie said in his TikTok post, "I never told people what happened to me and the pain that I went through going through the worst breakup of my life in 2019.

"I just wanted to throw it under the carpet and just start over and surround myself with better people."

In September 2019, he took to X, previously known as Twitter, to confirm his split from Lawrence.

"Only because I want ppl to stop asking the question….Yes, I am single now…and please don't believe everything you read…thank you," he wrote.

Charlie was also briefly linked to hit singer Selena Gomez.

In 2018, he told Billboard that it was "very short-lived, very small, but very impactful."

"It really messed me up," he added.

"I'm trying to put this the best way possible.

"It wasn't like I was the only person on her mind."

When did Charlie Puth release his last album?

It was his third studio album and made it into the Billboard 200 top ten, featuring tracks such as That's Hilarious, Light Switch, Smells Like Me, and Left And Right.

It followed up from the 2018 album Voicenotes, which reached No. 4 in the Billboard 200, and Nine Track Mind in 2016, which peaked at No. 6.

Charlie hit the No. 1 spot around the world as a featured artist on Wiz Khalifa's 2015 track See You Again.

He peaked at No. 3 on Gabby Barrett's I Hope in 2017.

Charlie's most successful single as lead artist on the Billboard Hot 100 was Attention in 2017, which reached the top fifth spot.

His song We Don't Talk Anymore, featuring Selena Gomez, was a No. 9 hit in 2016.

Music sensation Taylor Swift gave Charlie a shout-out in the title track of her 11th studio album, The Tortured Poets Department, which she released on April 19, 2024.

"We declared Charlie Puth should be a bigger artist," the pop icon sings.

Charlie subsequently used his Instagram Story to repost Taylor's sixth photo in her April 28 post about her reaction to TTPD's success.

"My mind is blown. I'm completely floored by the love you've shown this album," she wrote.

"2.6 million ARE YOU ACTUALLY SERIOUS?? Thank you for listening, streaming, and welcoming Tortured Poets into your life. Feeling completely overwhelmed.

"I was already so fired up to get back to the tour but you doing THIS?? May 9th can’t come soon enough ????."
