THE ninth-tier football club which fielded David Goodwillie as a trialist could be kicked out of its publicly-owned training centre.
Glasgow United have been warned council chiefs are ready to punt the team from its Greenfield hub in the city’s Shettleston area, after they said the rapist footballer "deserves a chance".
They revealed they are exploring options to terminate the free licence granted to the side to use the base after it fielded the disgraced player, 34, as a trialist in a friendly match.
Glasgow City Council leader Susan Aitken says she is ready to sever ties if a the team continues to pursue the former Scotland cap.
She told The Scottish Sun: “David Goodwillie has been found, in court, to be a rapist.

“However, in more than 12 years, he has never once shown any kind of contrition or remorse.
“Any club that signs him is making a very clear statement about its attitude to the safety of women and girls – both in sport and in its community.
“It would be an outrageous decision, wholly at odds with how community facilities like Greenfield should be run.
“I’ve asked officers to look at the council’s agreement with Glasgow United and made it clear that I’m ready for the city to walk away.”
Shettleston Community Sports Trust — the body behind the club — was granted permission to use the sports complex in January 2022.
The team is an arm of the charity, sharing the same registered address in Glasgow’s east end.
The local authority allows the side to train and play for free there on a rolling contract.
Bosses say they are unclear whether ex-Aberdeen and Dundee United forward has been offered a contract.
Goodwillie, from Stirling, turned out for the West of Scotland Football League side in a friendly away clash against Pollok last week.
Glasgow United received a backlash from fans and its own amateur side folded hours later in protest.

But club management fired back claiming after “listening to David” they were told “all he wants is to be left in peace and allowed to play the game he loves”.
They added: “We don’t just turn people away.”
Goodwillie, who played for Scotland three times at senior level and also turned out for Blackburn and Crystal Palace, was axed by Australian semi-professional side Sorrento FC hours after his signing was confirmed earlier this month.
He was ruled to be a rapist in a civil court case in 2017.
A move to Raith Rovers in January last year sparked a huge backlash and he eventually had his contract ripped up.
Clyde then also ditched him after criticism.
A Glasgow United spokesman said: “If Glasgow City Council wish to ban us from training there so be it.
“Keep the threats coming.”
