FORMER Manchester United midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin has had his contract terminated by new side Konyaspor just NINE DAYS after joining the club.

The Turkish outfit confirmed on Thursday afternoon that the 33-year-old, who also played for Southampton and Everton, was departing due to "family reasons".

A statement from Konyaspor read: "Professional football player Morgan Schneiderlin, whose transfer we have announced recently, conveyed to our management that he wanted to leave due to family reasons.

"As a result of the consultations and evaluations, our club approached Morgan Schneiderlin's request positively and terminated his contract by mutual agreement."

Schneiderlin left French side Nice in the summer after three years with the club.

He racked up 59 appearances across two seasons for the Ligue 1 outfit, before he spent the second half of the 2022/23 campaign on loan at Australian side Western Sydney Wanderers.

During the peak of his career, Schneiderlin spent 12 years in England.

He joined Southampton in 2008 when the South Coast club were in the Championship.

They then dropped down to League One, before Schneiderlin helped them return to the Premier League in 2012.

He signed for Man Utd in 2015 and played 47 games for the Red Devils across an 18-month spell.

During that short period, he won the FA Cup and Europa League.

He left for Everton in January 2017 and would end up at Goodison Park for three and a half years, making 88 appearances.

Schneiderlin also earned 15 caps for France and was included in their 2014 World Cup and Euro 2016 squads.

On both occasions, he was called up from the stand-by list following injuries to selected players.
