ASTON VILLA have confirmed midfielder Morgan Sanson will join OGC Nice on a season-long loan.

The French midfielder joined from Marseille in January 2021 and since then has only made three appearances for Aston Villa.

He featured in Unai Emery's first game against Manchester United which ended in a 3-1 win for the Villans.

He started and scored Villa's only goal in their embarrassing FA Cup tie against League 2 side Stevenage - knocking them out the competition.

Sanson is returning to his home country after spending the last six months on loan at Strasbourg.

The loan move to OGC Nice will have an option to buy after his six-month loan period is complete.

Aston Villa have been busy this transfer window with manager Unai Emery attracting a high calibre of players.

They recently secured the impressive signing of 24-year old Moussa Diaby.

The Bayer Leverkusen star put pen to paper for Villa despite being linked to Arsenal, Newcastle and Saudi League teams in recent months.

This signing came after the announcement of Villareal centre-back Pau Torres joining the Villans on a permanent deal.

Torres was part of Emery's Europa League winning squad in 2021, meaning the pair will be reunited from their time together at Villareal.

Emery has also signed Youri Tielemans from Leicester on a free transfer.

The 26-year-old midfielder was available on a free transfer this summer after running down his contract at relegated Leicester.
