Remember this Disney+ deadline, or you'll pay £36 more

It's no secret that the majority of streaming services are upping their prices, first Apple Music, then Spotify, and now Disney Plus. Yes, the exclusive home of Star Wars, Pixar, National Geographic, Disney animation, and Marvel has announced plans to launch a pricier plan to its subscription options.

Disney fans have just a few months to sign up for the service before they'll find themselves locked into a much dearer tariff, as those who stick to the current £7.99 plan will get a lot less for their money. As prices rise you can read our full list of Disney+ deals here.

It's all because the popular streamer is adding a new £10.99 Premium plan. There will also be a cheaper £4.99 plan thrown into the mix for those looking to cut costs, as long as you don't mind a few adverts thrown in.

How does the arrival of a new premium channel increase your monthly costs?

Current subscribers of the service (who pay £7.99 a month) will be automatically boosted to the pricier Premium plan. And there's only one month window to opt out. Those who don't respond will be billed £10.99 a month from December 6.

But if you want the same experience as you're currently able to get from the standard £7.99 per month plan from Disney+, you're going to have to spend more each month. Yes, while the £7.99 subscription tier will still be available its standout perks like 4K Ultra HD and streaming for up to four people from a single subscription are all being bumped up to the new pricier plan.

So those who sign up to Disney+ after November 1 will end up paying £3 more a month, or £36 extra a year, for the same perks currently offered on the £7.99 plan. If you decide to stick with the same plan from November onwards, you'll find your streaming quality downgraded to 1080p HD and you'll be able to watch as many simultaneous streams with a single subscription – not ideal for those with busy households!

When the new pricing structure kicks in, fans of Disney+ will either have to sacrifice picture quality and the ability to watch on 4 devices simultaneously or fork out an extra £36 per year (if you're on a rolling monthly plan, annual plans offer saving).

However, it's not all doom and gloom as there are ways film fanatics can get it for free.

As well as signing up for 12 months in advance or taking out a plan before November 1, there are other ways watchers can save on the favoured streaming platform. Well not just save, but get it completely free.
