A CLASSIC Ford dubbed the "most significant vehicle ever" has hit auction for an eye-watering price.
The 1965 Cortina De Luxe - with 93,448 miles on the clock - has days left for eager buyers to place their bids.

The motor, which has been "extensively recommissioned", is ready for a new owner.
It boasts a fresh coat of paint and a 1200 engine after being restored by its current owner.
Celebs who love flying planes - from Victoria's Secret models to Carol VordermanAmong its other features are original rear bench seating and reupholstered door panels - as well as a classic three-spoke Cortina steering wheel, a working Motorola radio and a "golf ball" gearstick.
The Cortina has been given a new lease of life with plush blue carpeting and a chrome trim.
Its owner also fitted it with electric ignition and a new radiator, axle and gearbox.
The dashboard has been given a unique touch in the form of a metal Tottenham Hotspur crest.
Car auctioneers Car and Classic said: "If you grew up in the 1960s the chances are this is a car that brings back fond memories.
"Perhaps one of the most significant automobiles of all time, certainly here in Britain, the Ford Cortina has safely reserved its place in the automotive hall of fame and is certainly a quality example of Ford in its finest hour.
"This 1965 MK1 Cortina is a charming, honest example of where it all started.
"Having been extensively recommissioned, it now stands today waiting for a new loving home, and will be ready to go right from the first moment of ownership."
