Coronation Street star Sue Cleaver celebrated her birthday on Saturday after recently opening up about her "scary" hospital dash.
The cobbles legend, who plays fan favourite Eileen Grimshaw on the ITV soap, took to Instagram to share a hilarious video to mark her 60th birthday on 2 September. Sue explained in the clip that she had been excited to open her birthday cards but was left unimpressed to find the first piece of post was in fact an invitation for a new retirement village.
Sue said: "Good morning everybody, happy Saturday, I'm not dressed yet, I'm just lying on the sofa! It's my 60th birthday today... so I'm quite excited! I go in the kitchen and all my cards are piled up to open, I open the very first one... is it a birthday card? No! It's an invitation to come and visit our new retirement village! I mean, I'm 60... jog on!"

Sue recently opened up about her "scary" hospital dash (@officialsuecleaver/Istagram)The soap star's 149K followers were quick to react to the post as one person said: "Hahaha happy birthday Sue x", a different account put: "Happy Birthday Sue...hilarious start x", while another follower wrote: "I received one and I'm only in my early 50s! Happy Birthday Sue xx." Elsewhere, Sue's Corrie co-stars were quick to share their well-wishes with Maria Connor star Samia Longchambon writing: "Happy birthday Sue!!" with heart emojis while Leanne Battersby star Jane Danson added: "Happy birthday Sue".
It comes after Sue revealed on Loose Women last week that she was rushed to hospital and had to undergo emergency surgery, leaving her in intensive care. The Coronation Street actress was on Loose Women as a guest panellist, where she chatted with her co-stars Jane Moore, Denise Welch and Coleen Nolan. The group began by discussing the perils of struggling to fit in, before talk turned to Sue's recent rant about a company that had used her image falsely to try and sell diet pills.

She then opened up about her own weight loss, admitting she had lost a lot of weight last year when she decided to give up alcohol. However, she soon shared with the panellists about her recent health scare. Sue explained to Coleen, Jane and Denise that she had had a hysterectomy earlier this year, before admitting that if she looked any smaller this year, it was because she had been rushed to hospital due to a health problem. As a result of her hospital trip, she was given emergency surgery but insists she is doing much better now.
Speaking about her ordeal, she said: "I had a really bad year. I had a hysterectomy in March. Then a few weeks ago, I ended up in A&E, I don't need to go into details, but it was a scary scary time. I had surgery and ended up in intensive care. There is no diet, there are no gummies. These companies pray on vulnerable people all the time."
