Jordan Maclachlan, 26, died on Friday while serving on the frontline in Ukraine, his family says.

A Scottish man has been killed while serving on the frontline with the Ukrainian army, his family has said.

Jordan Maclachlan, 26, from Ardnamurchan in the Scottish Highlands, died on Friday while serving as a medic with the Ukrainian army, his family told the BBC.

“Jordan always believed that he was making a difference and we are all so proud of him helping others,” the family statement said.

“We are waiting for further information from the Foreign Office as information is very limited.

“Jordan was a fun-loving son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin and a friend to many and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.”

A Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office spokesperson told the broadcaster: “We are supporting the family of a British man who died in Ukraine and are in contact with the local authorities.”

Maclachlan is not the first Briton to die while fighting in Ukraine.

In November, Callum Tindal-Draper, 22, was killed while fighting in Ukraine for the country’s foreign volunteer platoon.

Tindal-Draper, 22, travelled to the country despite his family’s pleas for him not to. His father, Steven Draper, paid tribute to his son, a former NHS worker from Gunnislake in Cornwall, in an interview with BBC News.

“We begged and begged and begged him not to go,” he said. “But Callum said: ‘Dad, I’m not frightened of bullies and what’s going on in Ukraine is awful and someone needs to stand up for these people.’”

In November 2023, Christopher Perryman, a British ex-army sniper, was killed fighting in Ukraine after he joined the unit of western volunteers.

Jordan Chadwick, who served in the Scots Guards from 2011 to 2015, travelled to Ukraine to fight in October 2022. But eight months later, on 26 June 2023, Lancashire police told his mother, Brenda, that her son, known as Joe, had been killed.
