A SOCIAL media "time traveler" who correctly predicted the Covid-19 pandemic is now sharing his take on 2023 and the "worst-case scenario that could kill us all" in the future.

Drew Curtis, the founder of the news aggregation site Fark, went viral on Twitter in 2020 for a post he made five years earlier about the eventual coronavirus lockdowns.

In an exclusive interview with The U.S. Sun, Curtis shared his 2023 predictions, including artificial intelligence technology that could ultimately spell doom in the coming years.

Curtis claims AI tech will remain the same as it is right now, "Creepy, disconcerting, and not ready for prime time.  For the life of me, I cannot figure out why we're trying to build one.

"[The] best case scenario would be the emergence of a new terrible ethical dilemma. Worst case scenario, it kills us all.  There's no win here," the supposed time traveler warned.

Curtis predicts the same for self-driving cars, which he attributes to a simple human error.

"Folks I know who work on them [self-driving vehicles] tell me that there's still a ways to go, mainly because most people suck at driving and the cars have a hard time anticipating all the stupid things humans do," Curtis claims.

"One of the recent setbacks was the realization that level 3 automation was rather dangerous. Human operators so rarely needed to intervene that when they did need to, they weren't paying attention.

"Getting to level 4 involves quite a bit more complexity.

"Hopefully, this doesn't turn into a thing like nuclear fusion where it's always 20 years away, every year," he added.

Self-driving capability is rated through a level system ranging from 0 to 5.

Level 3 autonomous technology that Curtis referenced is when cars scan their environment to make independent decisions like passing another vehicle.

Drivers still need to remain alert to resume manual operation during hazards when behind the wheel of a Level 3 self-driving car.

Level 4 is the first true self-driving stage since manual human override isn’t required in most roadway situations.

'TIME TRAVELER' TITLE

Curtis was dubbed a 'time traveler' after sharing a tweet on December 31, 2015, in which he wrote: "I'm a time traveler from 2020. Enjoy 2016 - it's as good as it gets for a while."

He then retweeted his prediction during the first year of Covid-19 and said: "This tweet aged well."

While people started to believe he was a time traveler, Curtis said his prediction was a "complete accident."

However, he is now happy to share predictions with the internet and give his thoughts to The U.S. Sun.
