RISHI Sunak took a swing at Joe Biden yesterday after Washington slammed his new anti-strike law.
US Labor Secretary Marty Walsh said he disagreed with the idea of forcing ambulance drivers, teachers and nurses to provide a minimum level of service during industrial action.
Mr Biden’s cabinet member added: “I would not support anything that would take away from workers.”
But a raging No10 spokesman hit back: “I’d point out that the US Labor Secretary admitted he hadn’t even seen the UK’s legislation, and the steps we’re taking to introduce minimum service levels on critical sectors – including blue light services – do not inhibit unions’ ability to strike, whereas in the US, many states prohibit strikes by emergency services altogether.
“Fire services are also banned from striking in most states, and in December, President Biden signed legislation to block a national rail strike.”

He added: “We absolutely believe in the freedom for workers to strike, we must protect the lives and livelihoods of the British people.”
Last night the TUC said: “It’s little surprise the Biden administration have warned against these spiteful plans.
“These new anti-strike curbs will poison industrial relations and do nothing to resolve current disputes.”
