The parks are dotted around the continent, with some in popular destinations like Spain, Bulgaria, Cyprus and Italy.

While one is right in the UK - making it much closer to visit even during the winter season.

Siam Park, Spain

Consistently top of the list for waterparks, Siam Park in Tenerife is an enormous Thai-themed attraction with something for everyone.

For adrenaline junkies, some slides will let you reach 50mph on the way down, or you can simply relax on one of the beaches right on site.

Younger kids can enjoy smaller slides or just a float down the lazy river.

Tickets to the park cost £38 for adults and £28 for children, and you can buy them before you go from AttractionTickets.com

Alton Towers, UK

You might think of Alton Towers as a theme park, but it actually has an indoor/outdoor waterpark that you can visit year-round.

The heated indoor area is a splash zone with smaller slides and a pool, while the outdoor section is all about the big flumes.

Tickets for the waterpark and the theme park are sold separately, but make sure you book before you get there, as it’ll be cheaper.

The tickets cost from £17.50pp.

3. Parco Cavour, Italy

Parco Cavour is a modern waterpark that takes inspiration from tropical spots worldwide.

There’s a tiki bar, Robinson Crusoe-inspired beach, lagoons, waterslides and more.

Even the pool has sand at the bottom, so you feel like you’re in a tropical paradise.

You can pre-book your entry through Tiqets with prices from £16.14pp - but tickets get released during the summer season only.

Verona is the closest city to the waterpark; it’s not quite as popular as some other European cities, which means you can find great deals going there.

Jet2holidays, for example, has 3-night breaks to the city starting from £273pp, with flights and accommodation during peak season included.

Paphos Aphrodite Waterpark, Cyprus

The Paphos Aphrodite Waterpark is definitely one for thrillseekers.

It has ten different water slides designed to get your blood pumping as you go down them at speed.

There’s also a wave pool, lazy river, and different splash zones for younger kids.

You can book tickets through Viator from £28pp.

You could even book a holiday package with unlimited entry to the park included in your stay.

Jet2holidays has deals from £599pp, with seven nights’ accommodation, flights and transfers included.

Katmandu Park, Spain

Another hugely popular attraction, Katmandu Park, is frequently voted Spain’s best theme park.

As well as thrill rides, soft play and mini golf, the park has a hugely popular waterpark with plenty of waterslides to entertain the kids.

Tickets to the park include all of the attractions, so even if it rains, you can still enjoy lots of activities.

You can stay at the hotel on-site to get unlimited entry to the park included as part of your stay.

Prices start from £102pp a night with On The Beach, and you can add flights to turn it into a package holiday from £409pp.

Jet2holidays also has deals from £527pp for seven-night stays with flights and transfers.

Aquafollie, Italy

Located in the town of Caorle, Aquafollie is designed for families.

There aren’t as many bigger thrill slides, but younger kids will love all the different splash zones, the wave pool and lagoon.

Tickets to Aquafollie start from £22.20pp, which you can book through Tiqets.

As it’s so close to Venice, it’s perfect for a day out if you’re looking for a change of scenery.

WaterPark Rhodes, Greece

Ideal for a day out when you’re staying in Rhodes, WaterPark in Faliraki is hugely popular with families and with good reason.

There’s a huge range of slides ranging from the extreme kamikaze-style drops to gentler slides for rafts.

For those with younger kids, there’s a lazy river, wave pool and splash zones as well.

You can buy skip-the-queue tickets from Viator from £25pp.

As Faliraki is such a popular destination, there are lots of package holiday deals for it.

TUI has four-night breaks from £253pp, including flights.

PortAventura Caribe Aquatic Park, Spain

This waterpark is part of PortAventura, the biggest theme park resort in southern Europe.

It’s all about pools and slides here, and you can come whatever the weather, as it has indoor and outdoor areas.

You can pre-book your entry through AttractionTickets.com, and it costs £42 for adults and £38 for children.

But because it's such a popular attraction, lots of the hotels in the area offer free entry when you stay with them.

Jet2holidays has 7-night breaks with entry to the park, flights, accommodation and transfers from £340pp.

Double-check before you book, though, as some only include entry to the theme park and not the actual waterpark.

Aqualand Corfu Water Park, Greece

One of the biggest waterparks in the world, Aqualand has more than 20 slides, pools and other attractions, catering for adults and children of all ages.

There’s even a baby pool for those travelling with toddlers.

Because there’s so much to do, tickets are a bit more expensive than other waterparks - they cost from £43pp on Viator.

Fortunately, for those staying on-site, unlimited entry to the waterpark is included as part of your stay.

TUI has seven-night breaks to the resort from £503pp, including flights and accommodation.

Action Aquapark, Bulgaria

Located in the popular Sunny Beach resort, Action Aquapark is one of the biggest waterparks in Bulgaria.

It’s ideal for those travelling with younger kids as there’s a huge lazy river that goes all the way around the park as well as lots of mini splash zones.

You can pre-book tickets to the waterpark from £16pp via Muesement.

Alternatively, you could book a holiday that includes unlimited entry to the park.

Jet2 Holidays has a 7-night all-inclusive deal with hotel, flights, transfers and park entry from £628pp.
