Cincinnati Bengals wide receivers Ja'Marr Chase and Tee Higgins loved quarterback Joe Burrow's selfless mindset to approach signing his five-year extension worth £220 million ($275M.)
Higgins was among the initial players approached regarding the NFL QB's significant contract extension. The Bengals receiver responded enthusiastically, making a light-hearted remark about his quarterback's newfound ability to acquire an island. He also underscored his pride in Burrow's accomplishment.
Regarding getting his wide receivers paid after signing his deal, Burrow said," Whenever you have guys on the team that need to be paid, that's always on your mind. You want that to be a focal point, so we are working to make that happen."
Higgins expressed the magnitude of the contract extension, saying, "That's life-changing, he could whatever, he could buy an island if he wants to, just very exciting."
He mentioned that he learned about it just like everyone else and probably reacted similarly to most. However, when Burrow arrived on Friday, he remained as focused and composed as any other day. "He had a straight face, ready to work," Higgins remarked.

Chase, previously Burrow's college teammate at LSU, responded to the news about X with a straightforward exclamation point above the Bengals' post. Before the deal, Chase stressed that Burrow wants to win games more than he wants to be paid and was thankful for his approach.
"He is [Burrow] not a big guy on money," Chase said earlier in the offseason. "He wants to look out for people around him and keep the team around him."
Defensive end Sam Hubbard shared his thoughts: "I'm genuinely delighted for him, the organization, the city, and the assurance of a secure future. I can confidently say that this locker room is brimming with excitement and relief, knowing that he'll be our quarterback for the foreseeable future. It's a remarkable day, and I'm thrilled for him."

Chase earned the NFL's Offensive Rookie of the Year award in 2021 and demonstrated remarkable productivity during his initial two NFL seasons.
Higgins is in the final year of his contract with the Bengals and is rumored not to have a deal done "anytime soon" regarding an extension. "I hope," said the 24-year-old WR. "But I have no clue. Like I said, my job is just to come in every day and do my work."
"Negotiation happens when it happens. I want to show I can be a No. 1 [option.] I feel like I have before, feel like there is always room for improvement."
The Bengals will face a division rival in the Cleveland Browns during their Week 1 season opener on Sept. 10. Burrow is expected to start the game after coming off of a calf injury picked up during off-season workouts.
