A NIGERIAN billionaire being linked with a takeover at Sheffield United is facing questions about his airline company, according to reports.

But The Athletic claim there is no evidence a Tingo Airlines flight has ever taken place.

The company is registered in England and declared a share capital of £1billion in August 2019, but there is no evidence of assets or published accounts.

Mmobuosi was registered as the sole shareholder.

Tingo had a registered address in Hertfordshire, which was lifted in December 2019 and was said to be "invalid or ineffective and was forged."

The company's Instagram page goes through to a website that doesn't exist.

And images of an Airbus A321 appear to have been photoshopped.

Speaking with Vanguard Nigeria in November 2019, Omiete Iyenemi Charles, who is said to be an acting CEO of Tingo Airlines, said the company "in the process of obtaining our UK Air Operator’s Certificate."

But there's still no evidence of this having yet been obtained.

Mmobuosi's bid to buy the Yorkshire club is currently being looked into by the EFL.

And the English Football League are hoping for answers to discover where his money has come from.

According to BBC, United current owner Prince Abdullah has been in talks with the Nigerian over a takeover.

Sheffield United have so far declined to comment on the matter.

On the pitch the Blades might have drawn with Rotherham on Saturday, but they're second in the Championship.

And Paul Heckingbottom's side are firmly on course to return to the Premier League with the gap to third place currently 10 points.
