The Inheritance stars Larry Lamb, Gaynor Faye, Robert James Collier and Kevin Whately, but despite the stellar cast, some viewers have been left underwhelmed by the production.

Following the second episode, which aired on Monday night, one wrote on social media: "What a ridiculous plot who signs off this s***e and puts it into production absolute b****x."

Another added: "TheInheritance God this is crap."

Others took issue with the sound in the drama, with one writing: "Sound people. PLEEEAAAASSSSEEEE lose the terrible background high pitched and reverberating music bed!

"I’ve got tinnitus and autism and it’s literally doing my head in. I’ve had to use the subtitles."

A fellow viewer agreed, writing: "Why annoying background music."

However, others disagreed and shared how much they liked it, with one writing: "Really enjoying The Inheritance - so intriguing, can’t wait for episode 3."

Another added: "Love a drama in which I suspect just about everyone."

Meanwhile a third shared: "Episodes of #theinheritance getting even better and better! (But upsetting too)."

The Inheritance airs Mondays at 9pm on Channel 5.
