Jesy Nelson and her ex-boyfriend, musician Zion Foster, parted ways due to the their age gap and their different perspectives on life after their whirlwind romance.

Former Little Mix singer Jesy, 32, grew close to Zion, 23, last year during a romantic trip to Jamaica. At the time, the pair wanted to keep their relationship under wraps and away from social media while getting to know one another as they formed a close bond on their luxury Caribbean getaway.

After months of dating and after finally confirming their romance back in January, Jesy and Zion have now decided to call time on their short-lived relationship after realising that they are both in very 'different head spaces' at their current ages.

Lifting the lid on Jesy's recent split, a source close to the singer told The Mirror: "Jesy is in a different head space from Zion these days. She is after all a few years older than Zion and has a different way of looking at things these days. They had a great trip abroad but since they got back, Jesy has realised it’s time to move on.”

Jesy and Zion had previously shared loved-up snaps including them kissing, dancing with one another and lovingly gazing at each other. Jesy last took to social media to gush over Zion on June 14 as she shared a string of snaps with her ex-boyfriend. Captioning her upload, Jesy penned: "Down to ride to the very end."

Before making things Instagram official, the couple enjoyed a holiday with friends following the release of Jesy's single Bad Thing, which Zion joined her for the premiere of. And back in June, Jesy announced that she had scrapped plans for her third single and was taking time away from the music industry after deciding to make a huge change in her 'rollercoaster' solo career.

Speaking to the Mirror at the time, a source said: "Jesy has been listening to her critics. She is desperate to give fans something epic and is doing all she can to find her authentic sound, but the sudden change-up has unsettled her camp. Last year, most of her debut album was believed to be done - even the artwork was in place - but Jesy has since done a huge u-turn and everything is being reworked, even the aesthetic as it doesn't match her new uptempo direction. It's all a bit of a mess."

Given that she has been making music and performing all around the world for over a decade after winning the X Factor with Little Mix back in 2011, Jesy had never taken the chance to take time for herself and fulfil her personal goals of seeing the world - however, this year seemed like the perfect time for the singer.

Jesy released a statement letting her fans know that she would not be as active on social media in the coming weeks and months. At the time, she penned: "Hey guys. So for a long time I've really wanted to go travelling but never had the time to do it," she typed. I've got some really exciting things coming up with work and my music, but until then I'm gonna take the summer off to travel the world. I'm going to be off my social media for a while, I love you all so much and I'll see you when I'm back."

The singer has had a rollercoaster couple of years after she sparked controversy in 2021 when she unleashed her collaboration with Nicki Minaj – to the chorus of accusations she was guilty of appropriating black culture in her accompanying music video.

Afterwards, Jesy parted ways with record label Polydor, with a source saying the popstar was on good terms with the label but the two parties had been "going in different directions" over her music.
