HUNDREDS of migrants who sneaked into Britain on small boats are serious criminals — including murderers, terrorists and rapists — a Sun investigation has found.

Drug dealers, gangsters, fraudsters and child sex offenders are also among the tens of thousands who have crossed the Channel — many living in taxpayer-funded homes and receiving cash hand-outs while working illegally.

The vast majority of the people who arrive by boat do not have criminal records.

But in one astonishing case an Albanian who murdered his wife cannot be sent home on human rights grounds amid fears his victim’s family will hunt him down and kill him.

The thug now runs a cash-in-hand car wash next to a Waitrose supermarket in Northamptonshire while claiming benefits and fighting for asylum through the courts with taxpayer-funded legal aid.

We were handed an astonishing dossier of evidence by a source at a secretive government security agency that oversees threats to national security.

The unit is currently monitoring nearly 1,000 immigrants with serious criminal records who have arrived in the UK on small boats.

The Sun has seen correspondence in which Home Secretary Suella Braverman has personally authorised the continued monitoring of high-risk individuals with a view to kicking them out of the country.

Our dossier also shows some of the arrivals have continued to offend since coming here.

One serial paedophile from Iraq has targeted children in Surrey and an IS fighter from Iran was recently arrested for carrying a weapon in West London.

Most of the offending arrivals cannot be deported because they claim they will be mistreated in their native country, with many fighting asylum claims through the courts at taxpayers’ expense.

Many of them also claim to be suffering from mental or physical illnesses that can only be treated on the NHS — meaning that returning them home would breach their human rights.

Our high-level whistleblower, who asked not to be named, exposed what is going on.

He declared: “If people knew the truth about these people, it would provoke national outrage — and it should.

“Hundreds of serious criminals are living all over the country, with many continuing to commit crimes, work illegally and claim benefits. And once they get to this country it is almost impossible to get rid of them.

“This is mainly due to various legal barriers, including lengthy appeals, human rights issues and a large backlog of cases.

“Our security services are stretched so thin, they don’t have the resources to monitor everyone properly.

“Senior Civil Service incompetence and political correctness also play a role.

“The only real way to solve this crisis is to stop them arriving in the first place.”

The Iranian terrorist with links to IS was deported from the UK in 2016 but sneaked back here on a small boat in March 2022.

He lives in a taxpayer-funded house in West London and was arrested last year for carrying a blade.

We also learned of an Iranian fraudster who is subject to an Interpol Red Notice — reserved for the most serious criminals.

He is living and working in Manchester while fighting an asylum appeal with legal aid, claiming he has mental health problems that can only be treated by the NHS.

The Albanian wife-killer served ten years in jail for murder.

After his release, he travelled across Europe to France and paid people-smugglers to get him into Britain on a dinghy.

When he landed on the beach at Dover, he immediately claimed asylum. This was rejected when the authorities uncovered his criminal past through a fingerprint match.

But the killer had already been released into the community — and he then went missing for several months before re-emerging earlier this year.

He is now appealing his asylum claim, claiming that he killed his wife in self-defence and that deporting him would put his life at risk.

With the backing of legal aid, he is claiming that his wife’s family will kill him if he sets foot in Albania again.

He is currently living in a taxpayer-funded house on restricted leave to remain, which has to be renewed every six months.

He is not allowed to work but helps run a car wash next to a branch of Waitrose where he employs illegal immigrant Romanians.

The Sun caught up with him and he boasted of his criminal past.

He confirmed he killed his wife, adding: “I did ten years in prison.

“I have a big problem in Albania now.

“If I go back, my wife’s family want to kill me.

“I want to stay here because I’m scared.

“I came for a new life. I live in Northampton and have a girlfriend with a child.”

Arrivals with serious criminal records are monitored by the security service MI5 plus various other agencies and the Home Office.

Last night, we showed our dynamite dossier to senior Home Office advisers, who acknowledged the danger posed by criminals who arrived here illegally.

A Home Office source said: “The Prime Minister and the Home Secretary have outlined plans to legislate once and for all to stem the flow of migrants crossing the Channel and ensure our borders are properly protected.”
