Liverpool and Tottenham will both be hoping to keep their positive start to the season as they meet in North London on Saturday evening.

The Reds travel south having won their past five matches, with their only draw having come on the opening weekend of the season against Chelsea, their last trip to London. They sit just two points behind Man City, with Jurgen Klopp's side hoping to mount a title challenge after last season's fifth placed finish.

Spurs, meanwhile, have started fantastically under Ange Postecoglou, with his new-look side having begun their season in impressive fashion. Four wins and two draws in their opening six matches have put them right in the mix at the top of the league, with their battling draw away at Arsenal last week underlining their improvement.

Liverpool with present a stren test to their resurgent team, however, having done the double over Spurs as both sides laboured outside the Premier League's top four last season. This is a new campaign and very different teams will arrive at Anfield, with their new midfield having to cope with the challenge of containing August's Premier League Player of the Month, James Maddison.

With both sides in the top four at present, it is one of the most intriguing fixtures of the season thus far and it is expected to be an exciting match between two attacking teams.

Tottenham vs Liverpool team news:

The Reds will travel south with right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold as their main injury concern for the trip to Spurs. The Reds' vice-captain has been missing with an injury in recent matches and Klopp revealed it was 'too early' for him to return in midweek, with his potential replacement, Joe Gomez, also nursing a minor injury.

Liverpool will be without long-term absentee Thiago Alcantara, with the midfielder training solo having been out of action since April. In terms of long-term absentees, Tottenham are still without Rodrigo Bentancur, with Ivan Perisic, Ryan Sessegnon and Bryan Gil all also out of this weekend's match.

However, Spurs are expected to have star man James Maddison at their disposal, with the playmaker reported to have recovered from the knock which saw him substituted during the second-half of last weekend's North London Derby.
