THERE is nothing quite like a video game that makes you get up, move, and make a fool of yourself in front of your friends.
The Nintendo Switch is home to many games that are fun to play with your kids, your friends, and your family.
WarioWare: Move It lets you peck like a chicken or stomp like a sumo wrestlerCredit: NintendoSome of the minigames in WarioWare: Move It will make you laugh more than othersCredit: NintendoGames with friends are always fun, even if they’re contemplative board games, but standing up and pecking like a chicken in order to get a high score?
That’s something else entirely, and will form memories you can’t get anywhere else.
WarioWare: Move It isn’t just another WarioWare game, it’s a direct sequel to the Wii’s WarioWare: Smooth Moves.
Chespin is the target of 2023’s first community day in Pokémon GoThat means it emphasises the use of motion controls and the other unique features you can only find in the Nintendo Switch’s JoyCon – even the IR camera.
You’ll be taught a range of “Forms,” essentially just poses to hold the JoyCon in while preparing to play the range of microgames.
Once you’re given a form, you are bombarded with rapid-fire games that take seconds to complete.
The aforementioned chicken peck is just one of many forms, with this one holding the JoyCon up to your nose – it’s actually called “Ba-KAW” but we’ll just ignore that.
From here you’ll use it to glide through the air as a paper plane, or perhaps use the other JoyCon (behind your back) to wag Raccoon Mario’s tail, or even – yes – peck at worms in the dirt.
We got to try out a selection of microgames that included all of the above and a rhythm game, a counting game, a game where the player imitates a sumo wrestler, and too many more to even begin to name.
These games get even more exciting when put into a simple board game-like setting akin to Mario Party, where players roll dice to reach a target, only almost every stop along the way has some kind of penalty to slow you down.
WarioWare: Move It is releasing near the end of the Nintendo Switch’s life, and all of the attention is now being drawn toward Super Mario Bros. Wonder.
But if you’re looking for one last ridiculous game to enjoy with friends, then WarioWare: Move It is for you.
