Move over Apple Watch—Google's new wearable is here. Following up from last year's launch of the first Pixel Watch, Google is seemingly still keen to move in on Apple's turf as it announced the upgraded Pixel Watch 2 today.
It's £50 cheaper than the Apple Watch but includes both similar and unique features, including extra safety tools, all-day battery life, and some key updates to FitBit fitness tracking.

While it might not sway diehard Apple fans, it means that Android users can now enjoy more or less the same wearable tech as on the iPhone, thanks to easy integration between the Pixel Watch 2 and Android devices.
That means you can connect your Watch to your Android phone almost instantaneously, and pull off some nifty tricks such as using your watch as a shutter button for your camera app.
Pub delivers five-word response to critics of its 'slow' carvery serviceIf you used the old Pixel Watch, you might know the struggle of having to charge your smart watch a couple of times a day. Fortunately, the Pixel Watch 2 has had a few upgrades to the battery meaning you should now get 24-hours out of a single charge. On top of that, Google promise you can get 12 hours of battery life out of a single 30-minute charge.
The biggest USP for fitness fans is probably the Pixel Watch's integrations with Fitbit, which Google bought in January 2021. This means you get access to a ton of great workout tech which combine the watch's heart rate and skin sensor tech with Fitbit's suite of fitness metrics. These usually cost money on their own so it's a great saving for those techie fitness freaks as the watch includes a 6-month free subscription to Fitbit Premium.
Much has been made of the Apple Watch's safety features including the SOS tool which can call for help if you ever have a fall or are involved in a collision. The first Pixel Watch also had Fall Detection and Emergency SOS, but never ones to let Apple have the last laugh, Google have decided to introduce some extra safety tools like Safety Check.
This lets you set a timer which, when it expires, will check if you're OK and ask if you want to share your location or contact emergency services. If you don't respond to the prompt, this feature will trigger Emergency Sharing with your contacts. It could be a really helpful way to get some peace of mind when you're walking home late at night or going on a long bike ride.
You'll be able to pick up the Pixel Watch 2 in October for £349, or if you want LTE mobile connectivity, £399. Find out more
