Christmas is a busy time for everyone, but especially parents. The pressure is on to get presents perfectly wrapped for your children in between work and caring duties without ruining the surprise. Often this leads to everything being done last minute at 1am on Christmas Eve when everyone's in bed so you don't ruin the magic of Christmas for your little ones.

One woman has found a new way to tackle the stress of Christmas wrapping which has people calling her a "genius". The mum shared her Christmas tradition in a short video on TikTok under the username McKelligan, which has now been watched by almost three million people.

McKelligan calls this tradition her annual wrapping weekend, in which she books a hotel room for two nights, and wraps all the gifts for her family. During her wrapping weekend she orders takeout and watches "tons of TV" while she completes the gift wrapping.

The video, which came out in 2022, declared this was the second anniversary of her completing this annual wrapping weekend. In the clip she carted an astonishing two trolleys worth of presents for her to wrap over the weekend as well as multiple rolls of wrapping paper and shiny bows.

She dressed suitably for the festive task in a cosy looking grey jumper that said 'Santa Baby' on it and a red Santa hat. Surrounded by snacks and soft drinks, the mum watched sports and music videos to pass the time spent gift wrapping. The end result? A large pile of perfectly wrapped presents.

Amassing almost 240,000 likes on the app, people were amazed by the idea which turns Christmas wrapping from a gruelling task into a decadent way to spend time. "This is the greatest thing I’ve ever seen!! You’re a genius" one person exclaimed, to which the woman responded "Why isn’t it already a thing?" More people commented on how this was an "amazing" and "awesome" idea, with someone calling it their "dream weekend."

Another woman commented her surprise at this new method of wrapping in comparison to the usual expectation for parents. "Wait a min… so we're not hiding in our 0°C garage wrapping at 1am anymore? Noted." One woman sprung off the idea of booking a hotel to suggest "an AirBnB so all the moms can wrap and sip together" instead.

Some people acknowledged the hassle of having to move the gifts to the hotel and back, with one person saying "but you had to cart all those gifts up. I'm too lazy!" Another person countered this by pointing out "everyone complaining about it lugging gifts. I’d be at home doing every single thing but wrapping. That’s why I get the hotel idea!! Love it!!"

Would you do this? Let us know in the comments.
