FOX'S new animated comedy series Krapopolis has sparked outrage for its “demeaning and offensive” scenes as viewers call for the show to be cancelled.

Krapopolis debuted on 24 September, but viewers are already unhappy with the new series set in Ancient Greece.

The animated satirical comedy, which airs on Fox and Hulu, puts a unique spin on Ancient Greek life and the rise of important classical civilisation.

Its official synopsis explains Krapopolis “follows a flawed family of humans, gods, and monsters that tries to run one of the world’s first cities without killing each other.”

The series has an all-star cast that includes Ted Lasso’s Hannah Waddingham, Night at the Museum star Ben Stiller, Hubie Halloween actor Steve Buscemi, and Disenchantment’s Richard Ayoade.

Some viewers were quickly impressed by the series, sharing their appreciation for the show on X (formerly Twitter).

One viewer tweeted: “Krapopolis is my new nerdy comfort show.”

“I need more Krapopolis,” commented another.

However, the series has not been well received by other viewers who have branded it an offensive depiction of ancient culture.

Savas Tsivicos, the president of the largest Greek-American fraternity organisation, AHEPA, penned an open letter to Fox Entertainment Executive Vice President Jean Guerin to express his disdain.

In the letter, which was shared on social media, he said the show is “demeaning to the contributions gifted to Western Civilization by the Ancient Greeks.”

Savas wrote: “This show attacks our 5000-year history and demeans what it means to be a good citizen.”

He continued: “It may seem humorous to some, but it is certainly not the values, history, legacy which Ancient Greece should be accredited with.”

Meanwhile, other viewers shared similar sentiments online, demanding the show be axed.

“Krapopolis is terrible,” one viewer said.

Another wrote: “Stop this madness, this series is damaging the Ancient Greek culture and is demeaning the Greeks as a country.”

They continued: “Nobody needs to be told lies and misrepresent Greek culture. This series is very wrong and it should be deleted and compensate the Greek government for any profits.”

Fox has yet to respond publicly to these comments, but with high audience numbers, it seems unlikely that Krapopolis will be going anywhere, anytime soon.
