Strictly Come Dancing's Jody Cundy was seen on crutches after he revealed he was rushed to the hospital with an infection.

The Summer Paralympics cyclist and swimmer, who had one of his legs amputated when he was three years old, revealed on It Takes Two that he woke up in the early hours of the morning earlier this week to a swollen and infected limb. Due to the injury, he had to miss two rehearsals.

However, he still has hopes of joining his partner Jowita Przystal, 29, for the live show on Saturday. The injury also prevented him from wearing his prosthetic leg. He's been on the mend and was recently pictured looking happier than ever as he headed to dress rehearsals ahead of the live show.

The star looked dapper in a grey suit and smiled for the cameras as he used crutches to help him as he left the studio. Jody wasn't wearing his prosthetic as he recovered from the infection. It comes after Jody and Jowita sat down with Janette Manrara to discuss his injury on Stricty's spin-off show.

He said he noticed his limb became irritated and swollen when he removed his prosthetic leg following a long day of rehearsals. Speaking to Janette Manrara, he said: "It's been a week of highs and lows. The first two days have absolutely flown by. At the end of day two, we had done the full routine a number of times which I had not done for the previous two dances.

"I was really confident that I could perfect everything for Saturday. I got home on Tuesday night and took my leg off and was like 'Oh, that's quite sore'." He added: "I didn't really think too much of it and cleaned it, bathed it and made sure it was all ok. I got up at 4 am and looked at my leg, it was warm, and swollen and I was like 'That's getting infected'."

The gold medal winner decided to go to the hospital and was prescribed some antibiotics. After his visit to the hospital, he went to bed but noticed his limb was still swollen in the morning and he couldn't put his prosthetic leg back on. "It is healing and getting better. The swelling has gone down a little bit more," he said. Jody and Jowita are still hoping to perform on Saturday night and impress the judges.

Strictly Come Dancing airs at 6:20pm on BBCOne and BBC iPlayer.
